In Design: Spring Street Widening in the Town of Herndon

This project will widen about a half-mile of Spring Street from four to six lanes from just west of Herndon Parkway to Fairfax County Parkway.
Other improvements include:
- Additional turn lanes on East Spring Street and Herndon Parkway.
- Improving sidewalks on both sides of East Spring Street.
- Adding to northbound Herndon Parkway a sidewalk as well as a cycle track, which combines the user experience of a separated path with the on-street infrastructure of a conventional bike lane.
- Replacing the sidewalk along southbound Herndon Parkway.
Within the project limits, Spring Street averages up to 36,000 vehicles a day and Herndon Parkway averages 18,000.
