Let’s Learn About VDOT

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is responsible for building, maintaining and operating roads, bridges and tunnels across Virginia.

Different jobs at VDOT require a combination of science, art, technology, language arts, mathematics, critical thinking and even history.

Some of the jobs of VDOTers include:

  • scientists, archaeologists and scuba divers
  • photographers and videographers
  • computer engineers and mathematicians
  • safety service patrollers, snow plow drivers and maintenance operators
