Ramp from I-66 West to Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Metrorail Station Planned to Close for about Three Weeks Beginning on or about Monday, June 13
FAIRFAX – The ramp from I-66 West to Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Metrorail Station (Country Creek Road and Virginia Center Boulevard) is scheduled to close for about three weeks beginning on or about Monday, June 13, for continued construction of the new westbound I-66 express and general-purpose lanes. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Drivers will be detoured around the closure via Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and I-66 East. As an alternate work around, drivers may exit prior to the closure at Nutley Street.
Monday, June 13
Ramp from I-66 West to Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Metrorail Station (Country Creek Road and Virginia Center Boulevard)
- The ramp will close around 10 p.m.
- Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to the exit to Route 123, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 South, then stay to the right for the ramp to I-66 East. Traffic will then exit to Nutley Street, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street North, then stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal to Virginia Center Boulevard.
- As an alternative, drivers can exit the interstate to Nutley Street (prior to the ramp closure), stay to the right to Nutley Street North, then stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Virginia Center Boulevard.
- The closure is anticipated to last approximately three weeks.
