FAIRFAX, Va.
– The ramp from southbound I-395 to eastbound Edsall Road (Exit 2A) is scheduled to close at 10 p.m. Saturday night, Feb. 26 until 8 a.m. Sunday morning, Feb. 27, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). This closure is needed for crews to set up temporary concrete barrier and a work area to accommodate upcoming ramp barrier modification work, which will take place throughout the week of Feb. 27. During this approximate week-long ramp barrier work, the temporarily-narrowed ramp will be open to traffic.

During this weekend’s overnight ramp closure, traffic will be detoured as follows:

  • I-395 South to
  • I-495 North (Capital Beltway Inner Loop) to
  • Braddock Road (Rte 620) East to
  • Backlick Road (Rte 617) South to
  • Edsall Road (Rte 648) East

Travelers should plan ahead and allow extra travel time or take alternate routes.

Once the ramp barrier work is completed, crews will close the ramp again overnight on or about Saturday night, March 5, to remove the temporary concrete barrier and work area, and restore the ramp to its full capacity.

Work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
