I-66 East Ramps to Route 50 East and West Changing on or about August 30
New combined Exit 57 A/B from I-66 East to Route 50 East and West is approximately one mile west of (prior to) Route 50; Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 West to close August 26-30 to implement change
UPDATE (8/26/2022): The weekend-long closure of the ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 West has been rescheduled to start at 10 a.m. this morning, Friday, August 26.
FAIRFAX – Drivers exiting I-66 East to Route 50 West will use a new combined exit approximately one mile prior to (west of) Route 50 beginning on or about Tuesday morning, August 30. The new exit location is immediately before the Monument Drive Bridge over I-66 and provides access to Route 50 East and West. This will be the permanent location of Exit 57 A/B as part of the Transform 66 Outside of the Beltway Project.
To implement this traffic pattern change, drivers should expect the following, weather permitting:
Friday, August 26, through Tuesday, August 30
- Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, continuously through 5 a.m. Tuesday, the ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 West will be closed.
- Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 North, stay to the right to I-66 West, and then follow signs to Route 50 West.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
Drivers should always use caution and pay attention to lane markings and roadway signs in construction zones.
The I-66/Route 50 Interchange is being rebuilt to add Express Lanes access to and from the east and to construct a new shared-use path as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
