Nightly lane closures planned on I-66 East and West approaching Gallows Road October 25-November 2

FAIRFAX Pre-demolition activities on the old Gallows Road Bridge over I-66 will continue during the overnight and daytime hours next week, Sunday, October 31, through Friday, November 5, with multi-lane closures on I-66 East and West. The Gallows Road Bridge is being replaced as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers traveling on I-66 during this time should expect delays and consider using alternate routes.

Crews are preparing the old bridge deck for demolition by removing railing and fencing, and constructing a platform under the old bridge to protect the Metrorail Orange Line tracks and the Dunn Loring Metrorail Station. Upon completion of the protective platform, crews will begin daytime operations saw cutting the section of the bridge over WMATA facilities in the center of I-66. This is anticipated to begin on or about November 5. Up-to-date information and lane closures related to this work can be found at the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project’s Gallows Road page.
