I-395 HOV-3 Reversible Lanes

PLEASE NOTE: The I-95 HOV lanes have been converted to Express Lanes between Route 610 in Stafford County and Edsall Road in Fairfax County. HOV users need three or more people in the vehicle and an E-ZPass Flex set to HOV mode to use the lanes toll-free. Please visit www.ExpressLanes.com for details.

The Express Lanes end and the HOV lanes begin on I-395 just north of Edsall Road. The rules on the I-395 HOV lanes have not changed. That means that when the HOV restriction is in effect, drivers traveling northbound who are alone or with one passenger will need to exit from the Express Lanes to avoid entering the HOV lanes. HOV-3 vehicles, motorcycles and eligible clean fuel plate vehicles can travel in the HOV lanes as they do today.

On weekdays, HOV-3 (three or more people in a vehicle) is in effect northbound (toward Washington, D.C.) from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and southbound (away from Washington) from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
