Project Details

Bridge replacement at Overall Creek on Route 340 south for bridge replacement and approaches for 0.53 mile from 0.51 south to Warren County Line.

Overall bridge on U.S. Route 340 is located in Page County and Warren County. The condition of the current bridge is deteriorating. The project will provide a new two-lane bridge and re-align the approaches to the bridge. Aesthetic enhancements to the bridge parapets and abutments are part of the project as agreed to in a Memorandum of Agreement with the Federal Highway Administration, Virginia Department of Historic Resources and the Virginia Department of Transportation.

A turn lane for Route 665 will be constructed at the southern approach to the bridge. This intersection will be relocated slightly south from its current site.

The existing bridge will remain in place due to its historic significance and a parking area and footpath will be installed for access to this structure.

In 2000 this segment of U.S. Route 340 carried 3, 700 vehicles per day with a projected volume of 7,600 vehicles per day in 2024.
