Project Details
Reconstruction of the North Fork Bridge in the Front Royal area of Warren County. The bridge is located on Route 340/522 just outside the Front Royal town limits and spans the North Fork of the Shenandoah River and the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks.
The new North Fork Bridge features five lanes with bike lanes and sidewalks. The Route 55 (Strasburg Road) intersection was reconstructed to include traffic signals. Signals were also installed at Duck Street.
Preliminary engineering for the bridge cost $2,895,000 and right of way activities cost $1,460,000. The contract value for the bridge construction is $19,211,521.25. Flippo Construction Co. Inc. of Forrestville, Md. was awarded the construction contract on September 21, 2005 by the Commonwealth Transportation Board. Funding for the bridge comes from federal and state dollars. Construction was completed on September 1, 2009.

Design Approval
Location and design plans were approved by the Commonwealth Transportation Board on April 19, 2001. This is for plans regarding the North Fork Bridge on Route 340/522 in Warren County/Front Royal area.
