Project Description
The Buffalo Creek bridge project replaced the northbound and southbound bridges as well as the approaches on either side of the bridges. The new bridges have three lanes. To meet current design standards for 70 miles per hour, the elevation of the proposed Buffalo Creek bridges are about nine feet above the previous bridges.Northbound truck-climbing lanes were built as part of this project. This location is at the north end of the Buffalo Creek bridge project and extends north approximately 1.3 miles.
Benefits
These improvements are in line with the direction the CTB gave VDOT in their resolution in October 2006 when they took action on the I-81 Tier I draft environmental study. It provides local safety improvements on relatively small segments of the roadway.
