Project Details
This project is in a high traffic volume, urban area. It provides for left-turn lanes at the intersection of Routes 642 (Tasker Road) and 636 (White Oak Road) in Frederick County.
The project widens the south side of eastbound Route 642 approximately 800 feet, which allows for a 200-foot left turn lane with a 200-foot taper onto northbound Route 636.
The project also widens the south side of westbound Route 642 to allow for a 100-foot left turn lane with a 200-foot taper onto southbound Route 636.
Work also includes widening the east side of northbound Route 636 approximately 13 feet for a 200-foot left-turn lane and taper onto westbound Route 642.
The project widens the east side of southbound Route 636 approximately 13 feet for a 100-foot left-turn lane with a 250 feet taper and lane shift from Route 756 (Macedonia Church Road) onto westbound Route 642.
The project was awarded for construction by the VDOT Commissioner on Dec. 1, 2010 to W-L Construction and Paving Inc. of Chilhowie. The contract value was $302,989.79.
Work began on April 19, 2011 with estimated completion on June 24, 2011.
