Project Details
This project improves the intersection of Route 340 at Route 9027 (School Boulevard) in Augusta County. The project increases the turning radius so that school buses can safely enter into the Stuarts Draft Elementary School complex. All work is to be done within the existing right-of-way. Construction operations will be limited to summer when school is not in session
The project was awarded by the VDOT Commissioner on May 26, 2011. The contract valued at $74,465.05 was awarded to Plecker Construction Co. of Staunton. The contract completion date is Aug. 19, 2011.
Benefits of Project
This project will improve safety by increasing the turning radius for school buses, allowing them easier access into the Stuarts Draft Elementary school complex. Revenue Sharing Funds will be utilized for this project.
Traffic Alerts
Work begins on July 18, 2011. Work hours are Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. until mid to late August. Motorists should be alert for lane closures in the right lane on southbound Route 340. Expect delays in this area.
