Project Details

The proposed project is located on Route 159 (Dunlap Creek Road) at the bridge over Crow Run in Alleghany County.  The project is 0.1-mile long with its limits extending from 0.45 west of Route 717 to 0.55 west of Route 717.  The proposed project will replace the deteriorated Crow Run bridge.

The existing bridge is 23-feet long and 24-feet wide with two 11-foot lanes with two-foot shoulders.  The adjacent roadway is composed of two 11-foot travel lanes with one-foot shoulders.

The new structure will be a box culvert with two 11-foot travel lanes and four-foot shoulders.  Guardrail is proposed on the four corners of the new structure.

During construction traffic will use a temporary detour structure and access road which will be constructed to the south of the existing bridge.  The temporary detour will be composed of a single-lane roadway controlled by traffic signals.

The traffic volume at this location is 852 vehicles per day.  The projected traffic volume in 2029 is 980 vehicles per day, of which 5.7 percent will be trucks.

The total estimated cost for this project is $1,189,130, including $265,141 for preliminary engineering, $80,000 for right of way and $843,989 for construction.
