Under Construction: Route 100 Bridge Replacement - Pulaski County

Traffic alerts ►

This project will replace the bridge on Route F047 (Old Route 100) over Peak Creek in Pulaski County. During construction, the existing bridge will be removed closing the roadway to through traffic. A detour will be in place. There will be a work zone with a barge located in the waterway below the bridge and boat traffic upstream may be impacted periodically. Bicyclists and participants in the Trans Am Bike Race using Bicycle Route 76 will also be detoured around the closure.

The bridge is located on the service road that runs parallel to Interstate 81 between exits 94 and 98 and crosses Peak Creek that connects to Claytor Lake. It is approximately 5.5 miles east of the town of Pulaski and 4.8 miles south of Dublin. During construction, local traffic will be able to access areas on either side of the bridge, but since the old bridge will be removed, drivers will need to use the detour around the closure.

The bridge is expected to re-open in October 2020 with final completion set for Late 2020.

The project will construct a new bridge that meets current standards as well as increase the overall length of the bridge from 212.5 feet to 250 feet and increase the width of the shoulders to five feet to accommodate bicycles and pedestrians. The number of piers in the stream below will also be reduced from four to one and widen boat access upstream.

Major Milestones

The bridge closed in June 2019.
