Proposed Project
The proposed improvement project is located at the intersection of Research Center Drive, Industrial Park Road and the ramps onto Route 460 in Blacksburg.
the purpose of the project is to improve traffic flow at the intersection. The improvements will begin 0.08 mile east of Research Center Drive and extend 0.3 mile to 0.22 mile north of Industrial Park Road.
The project includes adding turn lanes, reconfiguring the existing signal, adding pedestrian accommodations and installing continuous curb and gutter.
The following turn lanes would be added as part of the project:
- a right turn lane from Industrial Park Road to Research Center Drive
- a left turn lane from Research Center Drive to Industrial Park Road
- a right turn lane from Research Center Drive to westbound Route 460 on ramp
A public hearing was held on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012.
