Project Information

The project will replace the Stony Point Rd. (Rt. 620) structure over the Appomattox River on the Amelia/Cumberland county line.

According to 2012 traffic counts, the Route 620 bridge carries approximately 98 vehicles per day.

Traffic impacts

The bridge will be closed for structure replacement beginning Feb. 23, 2015. The following detours will be in place during construction:

  • Eastbound Stony Point Road (Route 620) – Take Reed Rock Road (Route 621) north to Fowlkes Bridge Road (Route 621) north to Brook Hill Road (Route 621) north to Old Buckingham Road (Route 13) west to Sunnyside Road (Route 654) west to Stoney Point Road (Route 600) south back to Stony Point Road (Route 620) east.
  • Westbound Stony Point Road (Route 620) – Take Stoney Point Road (Route 600) north to Sunnyside Road (Route 654) east to Old Buckingham Road (Route 13) east to Brook Hill Road (Route 621) south to Fowlkes Bridge Road (Route 621) south to Reed Rock Road (Route 621) south back to Stony Point Road (Route 620) west.
