Project description

The project will replace the superstructure and approaches, as needed, and raise the vertical clearance on north and southbound I-95 to 16.5 feet.

I-95 lane closures:

Sunday, Nov. 23

No interstate lane closures scheduled.

Monday, Nov. 24

No interstate lane closures scheduled; however, drivers should use caution on I-95 north/south between mile markers 91 and 93 as cement trucks pull in and out of the median between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Crews are placing concrete for the bridge pier.

I-95 travel:

Beginning Thursday, September 25, the speed limit on Interstate 95 in both directions will be reduced from 70 mph to 65 mph from mile marker 90 to mile marker 93 for the duration of the Route 54 bridge replacement project.

Route 54 travel:

Route 54 has been reduced to one 12-foot lane in each direction between Hill Carter Parkway and Mount Herman Road. Additionally, a temporary traffic signal has been installed at the interchange of I-95 north and Route 54 west to ease exiting interstate traffic congestion. For the duration of the project, the posted speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph. Drivers can expect delays, particularly during peak travel times.
