What's Being Done

The proposed project would shift the current Route 33 to the east and add turn lanes. This would allow Route 33 motorists to have thru travel access to continue on Route 33 or enter Route 54. In addition, the intersection will be realigned to accommodate this new access. Once the new access is built, cul-de-sacs will be constructed on the existing Route 33 and Route 54 near the intersection.

In addition, turn lanes will be constructed to improve traffic flow through the intersection. “Free-flow” right-turn lanes will allow motorists to continue slowly through the turns and yield to oncoming traffic.

Traffic engineering studies have shown that a traffic signal is not warranted at the intersection at this time. For more information on traffic signal studies, click here.

Right of Way
This project will require the acquisition of 18 parcels of right of way. One residence and no businesses or non-profit organizations will be relocated as a result of this project. Additional right of way, utility and construction easements may be required for actual project construction. Property owners will be informed of the exact location of these easements during the right of way acquisition process.
