Traffic Impacts

I-95/Lewistown Rd. traffic impacts

Monday, May 2
I-95 north (Hanover) – The left lane will be closed from mile marker 88 to 90 from 9:30 p.m. Monday to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday for bridge replacement activities.

I-95 south (Hanover) – From 9:30 p.m. Monday-5:30 a.m. Tuesday, a single lane will be closed between mile marker 90 and mile marker 88 for bridge replacement work. From 10:30 p.m. Monday-5:30 a.m. Tuesday, all southbound travel lanes will be closed and rerouted to the off and on ramps at Lewistown Rd. (Exit 89).

Lewistown Rd./Route 802 east/west (Hanover) – Flaggers will direct traffic on Lewistown Rd. from 10:30 p.m. Monday-5:30 a.m. Tuesday during the temporary closure of I-95 south.

I-95 reduced speed limit in work zone

The speed limit on Interstate 95 has been reduced near the Lewistown Rd. interchange for the ongoing work zone. The speed limit has been reduced from 70 mph to 55 mph southbound and from 65 mph to 55 mph northbound.

Project Description

The existing Lewistown Road bridge over I-95 is 14 feet, 7 inches high--below the standard height for bridges. The reconstructed bridge will be 16 feet, 5 inches high to meet current standards. In addition, the bridge will be widened to accommodate two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane. Turn lanes will be added to Lewistown Road at the I-95 intersection, truck stop and Airpark Road.
