About the Study
The Potomac River Crossings Data Development Study is examining cross-river traffic and movement demand at existing crossings from the Route 15 bridge at Point of Rocks to the Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge (Route 301). This effort is engaging with the D.C. Department of Transportation and the Maryland Department of Transportation.
The study is developing a common set of data from which Virginia, D.C. and Maryland can discuss approaches to ease congestion and increase multi-modal mobility among the three jurisdictions.
The purpose of the study is to define the problem, not recommend the solution. The next step after the study will be for the jurisdictions to develop a collaborative and mutually beneficial strategy to address the problem
