About the Project

This project extends the box culvert and widens Lee Road (Route 661) over Schneider Branch in Fairfax County, and relieves congestion by eliminating an existing choke point. Construction began on June 2, 2014. All four lanes of Lee Road through the project site are scheduled to open to traffic on January 29, 2015. Overall project completion is scheduled for mid-February 2015.

Estimated Cost
Preliminary engineering: $750,000
Right of way: $580,000
Construction: $2 million
Total: $3.3 million

Traffic Impacts

During construction, motorists can expect lane closures as follows:

• 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. - Monday through Friday
• All Day - Saturdays and Sundays

Drivers should expect alternating one-way traffic and temporary stoppages along Lee Road (both northbound and southbound) and Flint Lee Road. Flagger service will be in place during these lane closures and variable message boards may be placed as necessary to provide direction to the travelling public.
