Most work is being done behind concrete barriers with minimal impacts to traffic. When lane closures are required, they will occur at night: on eastbound I-66 Sunday nights through Thursday nights between 8:30 p.m. each night and 5 a.m. the following morning, and on westbound I-66 Sunday nights through Thursday nights between 10 p.m. each night and 6 a.m. the following morning.
Friday nights and Saturday nights are designated as backup dates if needed.
This project is rehabilitating the I-66 bridge over the ramp from northbound Route 110 to westbound I-66, and the ramp from southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway to eastbound I-66/westbound Route 50. The bridge was built in 1965.
The bridge averages roughly 50,000 vehicles a day.
Preliminary Engineering: $430,000
Construction: $5.2 million
Total: $5.7 million
This project is financed with federal and state State of Good Repair funds used for maintenance of structures and bridges.
This project aims to improve safety and extend the overall life of the bridge.
