Construction Updates

(10/16/14) Deck overlay, joint reconstruction and repair of the bottom part of the bridge deck is complete. Spot coat of the bridge girders and approach road overlay is in progress. About 75% of the project is complete.

The project is expected to be completed on-time by Oct. 28, 2014.

About the Project

This project consists of repairs to both the I-66 eastbound and westbound bridges over Route 29 in Centreville (Exit 52).  Recent repairs to the steel beams and substructure were completed in 2012.  The deck overlay and joint reconstruction were not completed. The scope of this project is to complete the deck overlay, approach road overlay, and joint reconstruction.

The project's cost is approximately $2.1 million.

Construction began on May 29, 2014.  

Traffic Impacts

The work is being accomplished through nighttime lane closures on I-66. On Route 29, through lane and left-turn lane closures will be required to repair the bridge directly above the roadway.
