New Market Heights Phase

This 10.5-mile phase will span between Longbridge Road located just east of I-295 in Henrico County and Kimages Road (Route 658) near Virginia Commonwealth University's Rice Center for Environmental Life Sciences in Charles City County. The Trail will be located parallel to Route 5. 

Cost: The contract bid amount is approximately $7 million. 

Status: Final engineering/design work is underway. A significant length of the project has been redesigned to minimize impact to the tree canopy. Construction is expected to begin in late summer 2013 with completion in spring 2014.
