What's Being Done
The purpose of the Breezewood Drive project is to provide a direct outlet to Route 221 (Forest Road) from Breezewood, while addressing safety and traffic flow by improving the horizontal alignment, increasing the vertical sight distance and improving access to properties along the roadway.
Features
This phase of the Breezewood Drive project is a proposed half-mile extension and reconstruction of an urban street within the City of Lynchburg. The project constructs new alignment from the intersection with Route 501 to the intersection with Route 221 (Forest Road). This project elminates left turn movements from Breezewood Drive onto Route 501 and removing the existing crossover. A right turn lane from Route 221 to Breezewood Drive is included.
In addition, the project also consists of replacement of inadequate drainage structures and the addition of storm water management facilities. A sidewalk will be provided on the west side of the roadway.
