About the Project
The Wythe Creek Road (Route 172) project will encompass roadway widening in the cities of Hampton and Poquoson. The Hampton portion of the project includes widening Wythe Creek Road to a four-lane divided section with a multi-use path on the west side and a sidewalk on the east side. This project also includes widening the bridge and causeway at Wythe Creek. In Poquoson, Wythe Creek Road will be widened to a four-lane undivided section with curb and gutter, a multi-use path on the east side and a sidewalk on the west side.
Notice to Proceed was issued to the design consultant in January 2013. Design is proceeding as scheduled and is on target for the Preliminary Field Inspection meeting scheduled for the summer of 2013.Once project scoping efforts are completed, a more refined project delivery schedule will be developed.
