Project Overview
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has proposed replacing the bridge at the South River on Route 633 (Bull Church Road) in Caroline County.
The existing bridge is structurally deficient, and was built in 1935.
The project is currently estimated to cost $1.3 million. VDOT anticipates advertising the proposed project for construction in February 2014, with construction beginning in spring of 2014. The bridge replacement would take approximately one year to complete.
Traffic on Bull Church Road would not be able to pass at the bridge during construction, since it is a complete bridge replacement. There will be a detour while construction is underway.
The new bridge will have the same number of travel lanes as the existing bridge, but would have wider travel lanes and new railing.
