Project Details

Route 614 (Hickory Fork Road) in Gloucester County is being widened over nearly 1 mile, from approximately Route 17 to Cedar Bush Road.

The project will maintain two travel lanes on Hickory Fork Road, but will widen the travel lanes from the existing 10-feet to 12-feet. In addition, the road will be widened to have 8-foot shoulders and 6-foot ditches.

Construction began June 3, 2013. Construction will end by October 1, 2014.

Daytime, single-lane closures are underway. Traffic will be one-way, directed by a flagging crew, from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays during summer 2013. In September 2013, the lane closures will revert to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays to avoid conflicting with school traffic.

Current traffic volumes on this segment of Hickory Fork Road are 5,400 vehicles per day, on average. VDOT anticipates traffic volumes will grow to 18,000 vehicles per day by 2030.
