About the Project
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Spotsylvania County are making intersection improvements at Route 1 and Route 632 (Hickory Ridge Road) in Spotsylvania County.
The $2 million project seeks to reduce crashes and improve traffic flow by building additional turn lanes at the intersection.
Construction will be completed by July 11, 2017. When work is finished, motorists can use:
- A new left turn lane on Route 1 northbound to Hickory Ridge Road westbound
- A new right turn lane on Hickory Ridge Road eastbound to Route 1 southbound
- An extended right turn lane on Route 1 southbound to Hickory Ridge Road westbound
Drivers can expect to encounter single lane closures on Route 1 and Hickory Ridge Road while the project is underway.
Crews will begin to install signs and sediment control fencing on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 in the work zone. Lane closures are not scheduled to begin until the week of Monday, March 6.
This project is being funded with revenue sharing funds, with half of the project’s cost contributed by Spotsylvania County.
