About the Project

The intersection of Route 17 (Mills Drive) and Route 609 (Thornton Rolling Road/Jim Morris Road) in Spotsylvania County will be modified to build a left, through and right turn lane on Route 17 eastbound and westbound.

On Thornton Rolling Road, a left turn lane will be built with a shared through/right turn lane at the intersection approach.

On Jim Morris Road, a right turn lane will be built with a shared through/left turn lane at the intersection approach.

The existing traffic signal will be modified from a flashing signal to full color operation to accommodate the new traffic pattern.
