~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What's Being Done
The project extends Cowan Boulevard in both directions as a four-lane divided facility connecting to Jefferson Davis Highway (US-1 Bypass) to the east and Carl D. Silver Parkway to the west. The project includes a bridge over Interstate 95, a sidewalk on the north side of Cowan Boulevard, and a multi-use bicycle and pedestrian path on the south side of the boulevard.
Features
The work was done in three separate locations -- from the intersection of Central Park Boulevard and Carl D. Silver Parkway, in the median of I-95 building the bridge in both directions, and on Cowan Boulevard from I-95 to Route 1.
Impact on Traffic
The work from the intersection of Central Park Boulevard and the parkway runs eastward to tie into existing Cowan Boulevard. From there, improvements were made to the facility along its existing alignment. From the intersection of Powhatan Street, the alignment continues on new location to intersect with Jefferson Davis Highway (US Route 1). The entire facility utilizes a four-lane divided roadway with curb and gutter. A new grade separation bridge structure carries traffic moving along Cowan Boulevard over Interstate 95.Contacts
