Concurrent Engineering
The Concurrent Engineering philosophy guides VDOT's Preliminary Engineering process. It establishes guidelines for increased involvement of all stakeholders in the project lifecycle, with the goals of improving project coordination and communication, and ultimately improving the quality of the design-construction process.
To better understand the guidelines and process, please read the following documents which provide flowcharts of the process.
