What's Being Done

Currently, work is underway to build Phase I of the Route 460 widening in the downtown Grundy area of Buchanan County.

Phase II of the Route 460 widening was advertised for bids in August 2008 and right of way acquisition has been completed.  The .84-mile section ties in with the section of Route 460 currently under construction and extends to Route 615.   This section of Route 460, scheduled to begin construction in 2009, will be built on a new location.  The construction estimate for Phase II is $39.2 million.

Preliminary engineering and right of way acquisition is underway for Phase III, a 1.18-mile section which extends from Route 615 to Royal City. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2010. The construction estimate for Phase III is $14.6 million.

Benefits

Widening of Route 460 in the Grundy area will complete the four-laning of Route 460 from Claypool Hill to Grundy.
