Proposed
460 Connector - Phases I and II |
Project Updates
Phase IVDOT's design-build contract for the Route 460 Connector Phase I in Buchanan County was awarded to Bizzack, Inc., Lexington, Ky. in August 2009. The project includes design and construction of:
- Twin high-level bridges, 1600 linear feet in length. When completed the over 250-foot-high bridges will be the tallest in Virginia.
- A .8-mile four-lane divided highway.
- An access ramp to Route 80, improving access to Breaks Interstate Park. This includes the construction of a bridge crossing Route 768.
- Secondary connections to Routes 609 and 693 from Route 80.
Phase II
VDOT is currently evaluating an unsolicited proposal to construct a rough grade road bed for the Route 460 Phase II, approximately 6.2-miles in length.
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has approved the environmental assessment for the project and VDOT has obtained the independent mineral specialist review for the project.
A public hearing for the location of Route 460 Connector Phase II was held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. at Breaks Interstate Park. Approximately 140 citizens were in attendance.
