How to Adopt

You agree to pick up litter four times a year for two years. In return, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) provides trash bags, vests, important safety information and highway signs that recognize you or your group.

1. Contact your Adopt-a-Highway coordinator, call (800) PRIDE-VA [(800) 774-3382] or send an e-mail to adoptahighway@virginiadot.org.
   
   
2. Review the general conditions and safety guidelines.
   
   
3. Complete an application and mail it to your local coordinator or to VDOT Adopt-a-Highway, 1401 E. Broad St., Richmond, VA 23219.
