Clubs, racing teams, civic associations, and health organizations in Virginia sponsor fun bicycling and walking events, as well as safety and information programs, throughout the year. These groups have shared the following information on their events. Please contact the sponsors for details.

Bicycling and Walking in Virginia
Knotts Island Century
Location: Wallacetown Ruritan Club, 4032 Bunch Walnuts Road, Chesapeake
Date: May 10, 2008
Description: The 100- and 66- mile rides, on rural roads, will include travel on the Knotts Island Ferry in North Carolina. A 33-mile ride will travel closer to home. The event includes fully loaded rest stops, sags, and a pasta lunch at the end. There is a limit of 400 participants. Cost: $22 in advance; $25 for members, $30 for non-members on the day of the event.

Ride in the Heartland
Location: Charlotte County
Date: Sept. 20, 2008
Description: Ride in the Heartland through the rolling countryside of Charlotte County. Cyclists choose from 101 miles, 67 miles ("century" and "metric century"), or shorter rides of 11 to 33 miles. Rides begin and end at the historic village of Charlotte Court House. Join us for meals and enjoy the beauty of the countryside and local historic sites.
