Adopt-a-Highway: Loudoun Highway Segments
The Virginia Department of Transportation is testing a new feature that allows you to view satellite images showing both highways available for adoption and those that have been adopted.
We are piloting this feature in Loudoun county.
This technology uses Google Earth. To use it, you must install the free Google Earth program, available here.
Then, download the desired location folder:
- Loudoun County (.zip, 3 MB) Modified April 18, 2012
Coordinator: Tracy Hamilton, tracy.hamilton@virginiaDOT.org, (703) 737-2032
Contact the appropriate coordinator to confirm a road's availability.
Key: Adopted segments are in orange. Available segments are in blue.
- Save the selected zipped file on your local machine.
- Unzip the .klm file.
When you select the .klm file, it will open in Google Earth.
