WINTRY WEATHER RETURNS TO THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY
STAUNTON – After several days of spring-like conditions, the Shenandoah Valley is expecting cold temperatures and a wintry mix on Saturday, February 17. The Virginia Department of Transportation is urging motorists to follow weather forecasts and be prepared for slick driving conditions due to snow or sleet.
VDOT does not plan to pre-treat Valley roads for this storm. Crews will be out Saturday to monitor conditions throughout the 11-county VDOT Staunton District, and will plow or treat roadways as needed.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
Road condition definitions:
Severe – drifting or partially blocked road.
Moderate – snow or ice on major portions of the roadway.
Minor – bare pavement except for isolated spots of snow, ice or slush. Driving with caution is recommended.
