ROUTE 730 IN AUGUSTA COUNTY CLOSED MAY 5 – 11

STAUNTON – A portion of Route 730 (Stokesville Road) in northwestern Augusta County is scheduled to be closed from 7 a.m. Saturday, May 5, until 5 p.m. Friday, May 11. This closure allows contractors for the Virginia Department of Transportation to paint the truss bridge over North River. Painting is an important part of VDOT’s bridge maintenance program because it extends the service life of existing structures.

Route 730 will be closed to through traffic 24 hours a day from May 5-11 between Route 718 (Stokesville Road) and Route 763 (Eubank Road/Old C&W Railway Road). The following detours will be in place:

  • Motorists approaching from the south will go east on Route 747 (Freemason Run Road), north on Route 731 (Natural Chimneys Road) and then west on Route 730 (North River Road) to the end of the detour.
  • Motorists approaching from the north will go east on Route 730 (North River Road), south on Route 731 and then west on Route 747 to the end of the detour.
