ROUTE 600 IN ALLEGHANY COUNTY CLOSED APRIL 30 – JUNE 7 FOR WORK ON TWO BRIDGES
STAUNTON – Part of Route 600 (Morris Hill Road) in Alleghany County is scheduled to close for about six weeks beginning Monday, April 30. This closure allows crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation to make improvements to the bridges over Rucker Hollow Stream and a tributary of Dry Branch. The two bridges are about one-tenth of a mile apart and will be treated as a single work zone.
Residents will have access to properties on either side of the bridges. Through traffic will be detoured as follows:
- Northbound drivers will follow Route 641 (Indian Draft Road) east, and then Route 666 (East Morris Hill Road) north to the end of the detour.
- Southbound drivers will follow Route 666 (East Morris Hill Road) south, and then Route 641 (Indian Draft Road) west to the end of the detour.
Route 600 is scheduled to reopen on Thursday, June 7. All work is weather permitting.
