STAUNTON – (4:45 a.m.) A tractor trailer crash has blocked both northbound lanes of Interstate 81 in Harrisonburg. The crash took place shortly before 4 a.m. Monday near mile marker 244.8.

A detour has been set up for northbound I-81 traffic. Drivers will take exit 243 to Route 11 (Main Street) north and then Route 253 (Port Republic Road) east to return to I-81 at exit 245.

There is no estimate for reopening travel lanes. As of about 4:45 a.m., northbound I-81 was backed up about two miles. Expect related congestion on Route 11 in Harrisonburg and southern Rockingham County.
