MULTIPLE DAILY CLOSURES ON ROUTE 600 IN ALLEGHANY COUNTY FOR BRIDGE WORK
STAUNTON – For approximately one month, full closures lasting five to 10 minutes will occur multiple times daily on Route 600 (Indian Draft Road) under the Interstate 64 bridge in the Callaghan area of Alleghany County. Flagging crews will stop Route 600 traffic in both directions for up to 10 minutes at a time as contractors make repairs to the underside of the interstate bridges. Stopping all traffic in this area is necessary due to falling debris onto the road from the bridge work.
There are also alternating lane closures on Interstate 64 eastbound and westbound from mile marker 9 to 11.
The I-64/Route 600 work zone is scheduled to be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday until late February. All work is weather permitting.
The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
