VDOT WORKING TO REOPEN ALLEGHANY COUNTY ROADS
I-64 Eastbound Off-Ramp at Exit 10 Closing for Repairs
STAUNTON – (4:30 p.m.) At least a half-dozen secondary roads in Alleghany County remain closed Friday evening due to flooding or damage from Thursday’s storms.
The eastbound Interstate 64 off-ramp at Exit 10 (Callaghan) will close at 6 p.m. this evening to allow crews to make slope and culvert repairs. The off-ramp is expected to reopen by mid-day Saturday.
In addition, the eastbound I-64 rest area near mile marker 2 is temporarily closed due to mudslides.
VDOT cautions that flooded roads are hazardous as long as they are covered by water and motorists should heed the barricades and “Road Closed” signs.
