ONE LANE OPEN ON SOUTHBOUND I-81 IN ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY
STAUNTON – (2:30 a.m.) The left lane of southbound Interstate 81 has reopened in Rockbridge County, following a tractor trailer crash that took place around midnight Tuesday night near mile marker 179 in the Natural Bridge area.
The southbound I-81 detour has been lifted. Traffic is currently backed up about one mile. Incident responders continue working to remove the truck and get the right lane back open.
The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
