CRASH CLOSES I-81 NORTHBOUND IN AUGUSTA COUNTY
STAUNTON – (6:30 a.m.) Both northbound lanes of Interstate 81 are closed in Augusta County due to a crash near mile marker 215 in the Greenville area. The incident took place about 5:15 a.m., and there is no estimate on when the northbound lanes will reopen. Traffic is currently backed up about two miles.
A detour route for northbound I-81 is being established. Motorists will be directed to take exit 213 (Greenville), follow Route 11 north and then Route 654 east to return to the interstate at exit 217.
