TRACTOR TRAILER ACCIDENT SLOWING I-81 NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND IN ROCKINGHAM COUNTY

STAUNTON – (4:00 a.m.) A tractor trailer crash at mile marker 249 is blocking the left lane in both directions of Interstate 81 in Rockingham County near Harrisonburg. The accident took place around 2 a.m., but there is no estimate on when the northbound and southbound left lanes will reopen.

The tractor trailer overturned in the median of I-81 and incident responders must pump diesel fuel out of the truck’s tanks before the northbound and southbound lanes can be reopened. Drivers can expect delays on the interstate during the morning commute.
