SOUTHBOUND I-81 CLOSED IN ROCKINGHAM COUNTY
STAUNTON – (8:20 a.m.) Both southbound lanes of Interstate 81 are blocked in Rockingham County due to an accident near mile marker 261, about three miles south of New Market. The crash took place about 7:15 this morning and involved a truck striking an overpass. The Virginia Department of Transportation will inspect the bridge before reopening the southbound lanes.
Backups on I-81 southbound are estimated at five miles, and motorists may experience related delays on Route 11 in northern Rockingham County and southern Shenandoah County.
