SEVERAL PORTIONS OF I-81 HAVE LANE CLOSURES DUE TO TRACTOR TRAILER CRASHES


STAUNTON – (8 p.m.) In Shenandoah County a tractor trailer crash has closed both Interstate 81 southbound lanes at mile marker 287.  Traffic is being detoured off of I-81 at exit 291 near Toms Brook, using Route 11 traffic will rejoin I-81 at exit 282 in Woodstock.

In Frederick County, two separate tractor trailer crashes have occurred at mile marker 311 on Interstate 81. One crash is on the northbound side and one crash is on the southbound side.  One southbound and one northbound lane is now open.  The southbound crash happened around 6:30 p.m. and the northbound crash happened around 7:15 p.m.

This location is between exit 310 at Route 37 and exit 313 at Route 17/50/522 in the Winchester area.

High winds and heavy snow squalls have been in the region since very late afternoon.  Wreckers are responding and are working to get all lanes open.
