STAUNTON – (9:15 p.m.) Route 11 (Lee Highway) is shut down in Rockingham County just north of Harrisonburg due to an accident that occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday. Route 11 is expected to remain closed for several hours. The accident is just south of the interchange with Interstate 81 at exit 251, but the interstate on- and off-ramps are open to traffic.


Route 11 traffic is being directed to use one of the following detours:

  • Southbound drivers will turn left on Route 724, right on Route 238, right on Route 718, right on Route 720 and left on Route 11 to continue south.
  • Northbound drivers will turn right on Route 720, left on Route 718, left on Route 238, left on Route 724 and right on Route 11 to continue north.
