STAUNTON – (12:30 p.m.) Both northbound lanes of Interstate 81 are currently closed in Rockbridge County due to a tractor trailer crash near mile marker 191. The accident took place about 11:30 this morning just south of the junction with I-64.


Northbound I-81 may be blocked until 2 p.m. or later as crews work to clean up the accident scene. Traffic backups are currently about five miles. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.


Related congestion is likely on Route 11 and Route 60 in the Lexington area.
